Update on Alexis

On Tuesday, May 26th, we had a doctor's appt. Alexis is still a girl and we were amazed to see how big she's getting. Her legs looked strong and healthy. She has been moving a lot more, which makes me very happy. Hopefully she will keep it up. We don't have an ultrasound picture because the doctor had a delivery in the morning, and was double-booked in appointments the rest of the day. I am grateful we still got a quick peek at Alexis through ultrasound. I am 22 weeks today and I can't believe how fast time is going by. I can't wait to see Alexis, but I really want to cherish the rest of my pregnancy.

We had our second Bradley class last night on Payson's birthday. We talked about nutrition and excercise and found the class to be very informative. Then we went home and watched the Lakers game we had on Tivo. We're happy that the Lakers didn't choke on their home court. They now lead the series 3-2. Go Lakers!

Our New Nephew! :)

8lbs. 5 oz., 20 inches

Congratulations to my wonderful sister-in-law, Lindsey, and her husband Paul for bringing this adorable guy into the world! Lindsey bravely endured 30 hours of labor, while Paul stood by her side and coached her through it. We are going to see him 4th of July weekend. We can't wait! We're so happy Alexis will have another cousin. May God bless their family with continued health and safety.

New Classes & New Dresses

On Wednesday, May 20th we started our Bradley birthing classes.  We chose Bradley over Lamaze because I really want to try and have a natural drug-free birth.  Bradley classes focus on drug-free births and over 80% of its participants suceed in having a drug-free birth.  It's a 12 week course and there are two other couples in our class. All of us are expecting girls.  My instructor had 5 kids drug-free, all of them weighing over 10 lbs at birth! Her first was 12 lbs!!! So I figure the Bradley method does work, and hopefully it works for us.  The first class we talked about nutrition and excercises.  I have to write down everything I eat on a worksheet.  Hahaha, so less oreos and hot cheetos for me! ;)  We also watched a video of a live birth.  I wont lie, it shocked me and Daniel a little.  We had never seen one before.  I couldn't decide what shocked me more...the miracle of childbirth or the fact that the lady in the video didn't mind the camera all up in her business (or the fact that classes would be watching!!!)  We had fun in our first class and I am looking forward to the next one.

Alexis has been moving more the past couple days, after freaking me out the week before.  She would go for HOURS without moving, making me very anxious.  I had a chat with her and told her she can't scare me like that.  So she has listened so far and has been moving around much more.  I bought her two dresses yesterday.  They look similar, but I couldn't decide which one I liked better, so I bought both.  I can't wait to see her in them.  Enjoy!

Name Annoucement & Registries

So I just realized that I never formally announced the name of our baby girl.  So here it is:

Alexis Grace Cunningham

I really like the name and it gives her options. For example, I am going to call her Lexi, but she can also go by Alex or Alexis.  So, that's her name and if you don't like it, I don't care and don't want to hear about it. ;)  We also started registering yesterday at Target and Babies-R-Us.  It was harder than I thought...so many things to choose from!  Also the bedding and gear collection I wanted to see were only available online.  I really wanted to see the design in person, to make sure I liked it.  There are several items we decided to research more and add to the registry later.  In the meantime, feel free to look at my registries now.  Especially for all you moms, please tell me if you had a bad experience with anything I registered for.  Also, tell me if I left out one of your "must-have" items.  I would appreciate the feedback and it will help me out.  You will notice that I like blue and chocolate, even though we are having a girl.  Click on the logos below for easy access to my registries.
I had a good time registering, and looking at the girl clothes.  The funniest thing happened at Target...I heard this kid yelling and trying to get his mother's attention any way he could.  I was laughing so hard because it reminded me of this clip from Family Guy.  Enjoy!

Belly Pic- 20 Weeks

This is my belly at 20 weeks pregnant.  I am at the halfway point!  Time went by so fast!  I think it's a little bigger than a couple weeks ago, which means our baby girl is getting bigger everyday.  I am starting to feel her little kicks occassionally and it's so fun to feel her movements.  However, it's hard for Daniel to feel them from the outside.  She is very sporadic in her movements.  I feel great right now...just tired.  I am having to get up more in the middle of the night and it's hard to get comfortable.  Right now, I am limited to sleeping on my side.  Sometimes, I will feel her on one side of my belly, so I have to roll over and sleep on the other side.  If I don't, I feel like I am squishing her.  I guess all this restlessness is preparing me for night feedings and diaper changes.  :)

The Best First Mother's Day! 5/10/09

On my first mother's day, Daniel and I decided to go to Before the Stork, a 4D Ultrasound center.  We didn't want to wait until the end of the month for my normal doctor's appt. More than anything I wanted to find out if the baby was a boy or girl, so I can stop calling the baby an "it."  My intuition all along kept saying I was having a girl.  We also decided to invite all of our closest family and friends to share this experience.  My mother, for example, never had a chance to experience an ultrasound in all four of her pregnancies, so I knew it would be a real treat for her.  It turned out that she was not the only mom who never had an ultrasound.  They were in the ultrasound room when we found out the gender, and afterwards we had a mother's day party at my parent's house.  Check out the pics and see if the baby is a boy or girl below.  Enjoy!

My Belly- 18 Weeks

Here is my belly at 18 weeks. Most people just think I have a beer belly gut, instead of a baby. However, I have already started wearing maternity pants and they are heavenly! Stretchy pants rock!!!

17 Weeks, 5 Days

We went to the doctor for our first gender check attempt on 4/28/09. I have had a feeling my whole pregnancy that the baby is a girl. Daniel thinks boy. However, when we went to the doctor, the baby was in a breached position and it was hard for them to see between the legs. For a split second, Daniel and I thought we saw boy parts, but it turned out to be the umbilical cord. Doctor said that he couldn't see anything between the legs but it was hard to tell. He guessed 70% chance it was a girl, but to save all our receipts just in case. I was disappointed we didnt know for sure, but baby had other plans.

13 Weeks, 5 Days

So, today we went to our normal doctor. It was fun getting 2 different ultrasounds two days in a row. If I were rich, I would buy an ultrasound machine to keep at home, hahaha.

13 Weeks, 4 Days

I had another appointment today.  This visit was not with my regular doctor.  This doctor checks for birth defects.  Dr. Bruce was sooooooo nice and really funny.  The whole visit was so much fun! At first, the baby was in the wrong position for the test, so we spent about half an hour trying to get the baby to turn.  After walking around and turning from side to side, the baby went from being completely upside down to sort of in the right position.  It was really funny to see it sleeping upside down.  At one point it was even sucking its thumb.  Enjoy the pictures, it looks like a real baby now.  We should know the gender is 2-4 weeks, depending if we decide to do an early 4D ultrasound.

9 Weeks, 4 Days

Look at how super cute the baby is!  We saw its little hands and feet and it was wiggling around.  It may be my imagination, but I totally see the baby smiling in this picture.  We heard the heartbeat and all my tests looked good.  Everything looks fine and the due date is still Oct. 1, 2009.
